Challenges with AI4Good projects
Workshop: Session 2
Friday, 28 March 2025 | 3:00 - 4:00 pm
@transform_d | Filmtheater Colosseum (Berlin)
AI technologies are gaining importance in many areas and are often used in commercial and industrial contexts. However, their potential in the area of public welfare remains largely untapped.
In Germany, there are already a number of actors and initiatives that are committed to using AI for the common good. This event brings together some of these actors to present their approaches and projects, share best practices and promote dialogue between AI4Good actors among themselves and with representatives from business and politics. Through both a theoretical and practical introduction to AI4Good and interactive discussions, the organizers aim to raise awareness of the opportunities and challenges and jointly develop ideas to strengthen the use of AI for the common good.
The workshop will take place on the first day of the conference, 28 March 2025, in two sessions. The first session will focus on existing definition(s) of Public Interest AI and previous research on this term, as well as concrete examples of projects in this field. The projects will have the opportunity to present themselves in order to give a (deeper) insight into use cases. The second session has an interactive structure and is designed for networking and exchanging views on the challenges of working on AI projects for the common good. The sessions will take place as part of this year's Transform_D Summit organised by the German Foundation for Engagement and Volunteering (DSEE).
