BIFOLD Colloquium 09/2024

Abstract: Snowflake’s founders started from scratch and built a data platform that would harness the immense power of the cloud. But their vision didn’t stop there. They engineered Snowflake to power the Data Cloud, where organizations have seamless access to explore, share, and unlock the true value of their data.

This is a presentation detailing how Snowflake has built Unistore as an OLTP-capable "engine-within-engine" extension on top of the traditional Snowflake product.

Short-Bio: Cristian Diaconu is the area architect for Unistore and FoundationDB at Snowflake, a role which is heavily focused on system-wide efficiency. In past assignments he was the architect of Sql Server Hyperscale (Socrates), Sql Server Hekaton (Accelerated OLTP) and Sql Server Filestream and FileTable.
