Generative Learning for Engineering Applications
Abstract: Generative learning has the potential to impact various areas of application. In this talk we present new engineering applications like simulation of turbulent flows, inverse design and shape optimization.
Short Bio: Hanno Gottschalk studied theoretical physics and mathematics in Freiburg and Bochum. He obtained his PhD in 1999 at U Bochum on mathematical foundations of elementary particle physics. He then moved to a PostDoc year at Universita La Sapienza in Rome and thereafter joint the math department, where he obtained his habilitation in 2003. 2005 he became lecturer at U Bonn and left academia to work in gas turbine engineering between 2007 and 2011. Then he became professor for Stochastics at U Wuppertal. In 2018 he founded the Interdisciplinary Center for Machine Learning and Data Analytics at U Wuppertal and served as spokesperson until 2022. In 2023 he became full professor for Mathematical Modeling of Industrial Life Cycles at TU Berlin.
